INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY: HOW CAN WE BE EACH FOR EQUAL?

A woman is an entity. She carries a lot of things and activities on her shoulders. She is a wife, partner, organizer, administrator, director, re-creator, disburser, economist, mother, disciplinarian, teacher, health officer, artist and queen in the family at the same time.

Apart from it, women play a key role in the socio-economic development of the society. With all this in one person, she really deserves to be appreciated and celebrated.

Here at Ndoto hub it is our culture to celebrate women, we understand the struggles they are coming across to reach their dreams.

Therefore, as it is our culture, on this day we held an event to celebrate our young women at Ndoto hub, the Ndoto stars, by watching a movie to empower young women, “What Men Want”. This is a 2019 American romantic comedy by Adam Shankman and starring Taraji P. Henson. After years of being overpowered by men in the industry, a female sports agent gains the ability to hear men's thoughts and uses it to her advantage.

Afterwards we had a short panel discussion with our guest speakers who are also young women doing wonderful activities out there. We had Ms. Imelda Lutebinga, Head of Human Resource at G4S and a Deputy Regional Ambassador-WED EA.

Our second guest was Ms. Leandra Lyimo, the Founder and CEO at Refixit Tanzania together with Ms. Jessica Mshama, Founder at Nakua na Taifa Langu.

One of the most important take away we got from Ms. Imelda was, “never to feel sorry for yourself” as a woman you are wired to do multiple things at the same time. We are blessed with that ability. So quit saying that this is too much for me. I can’t do this or I can’t do that. We can do anything as long as we put our minds to it.

We winded up our day by networking and a little chitchat having some snacks and a lot of laughter.

And again, what is a celebration without a gift? Every woman in the house walked out with a cup cake flagged each for equal as a symbol of endearment.
